The Information School at San José State University uses a blog, written by the Assistant Director, to keep students informed of registration, schedule and other curriculum issues. A security audit revealed a weakness in the WordPress theme they were using. iSchool staff installed a new theme, but the blog’s administrator later found that the search function no longer worked.
In the process of troubleshooting the search issue, I found that the existing theme had other issues. Especially concerning, to me, was the fact that it was very difficult to view on mobile devices and tablets. I created a new blog site for iSchool, restoring their search capability, making the blog responsive, and improving other features. This was all done on a very short time line.
